Helmets
A number of factors were considered when we began our design search for a helmet. Chief among
these factors was safety. We required a lightweight unit to reduce neck stress and a snug fit to prevent bucket
heading while user was in the water. Both of these objectives were reached with the use of Gath helmets.
Intercom Receiver
The Geocomms (GCI 201) Intercom Transceiver is a single channel intercom designed for stand
alone use in the communication system for close proximity communications between RHIB crew members up to 100 metres
or interface with a UHF/VHF Radio for longer distance communication.
Features built into the Transciever are PTT button, volume up/down, low battery and switch for toggling between
UHF/VHF and intercom modes. The intercom is rated IP67. An example would be captain to crew, crew to captain and
captain to base or base to captain.
The Geocomms (GCI 208) intercom Transceiver is an eight channel intercom designed for stand alone use in the
communication system for close proximity communications up to 100 metres or interface with a UHF/VHF Radio for
longer distance communication.
The eight channel Intercom allows close proximity vessels to operate on separate frequencies to crew yet also
communicate to another vessel via the intercom within 100m on the same channel or UHF/VHF for longer distances
where required. Features built into the eight Channel Intercom are the same as with the single channel with the
inclusion of digital channel display for channel selection. The intercom is rated IP67.
Geocomms In Line PTT (GC 504) (Manual push to talk)
This item is designed as an optional piece of equipment that connect between
helmet and radio should the user wish to use PTT in the chest or hip position.
It is a small lightweight case with a red easy to find waterproof button
mounted on the face. The Manual PTT is rated IP67.
Bone Microphone
The Bone Microphone is a specially designed conductor microphone that picks
up vibrations from the scull converts them into audible speech and transmits
them via Intercom or UHF/VHF radios to the receiving party. The Geocomms helmet use this system because the
standard boom microphone picks up all surrounding noise and cannot successfully be waterproofed.
Waterproof Speakers
The Geocomms Helmet use speakers with combined impedance of 16 OHMS that
are waterproof to IP68 rating they are mounted in the helmet close to the ear
channel for clear uninterrupted speech.
Waterproof PTT Buttons
These easy to find buttons are placed over the ear channel of the helmet exterior
and are water proof with an IP68 rating. They are 40cm in diameter and have a
soft clear defining click to enable a good feel when transmitting.
Down Lead and Connection
The down lead on the typical helmet is hard wired to the helmet with a
Icom radio adapter fitted as standard. For use with the Intercom and
Manual PPT we have fitted IP67 rated connectors with screw caps
for protection.
Geocomms Remote with Finger PTT (GC 504)(push to talk)
This apparatus is designed primarily for military rifle use or in turn helmsman
allowing them to have control of the helm by both hands at all times. It fits
onto the operators finger and runs via an infrared system to operate UHF/VHF
radio or Intercom depending whether you use one or two button versions of
the PTT, operation is by the operators thumb pressing on the button allowing
transmission of either radio or intercom.
Geocomms Standard Headsets (GCHS 603)
The headset was specifically designed for use in extreme noisy environments,
we use a Bilsom Leightning L1 Head set fitted with the Geocomms
Communication system similar to the typical helmet. The head set is
manufactured to Class B NRR 25 and is IP68 rated.
Summary of Helmet Components
What sets our systems apart from others is simplicity of design. It is impossible to hook our
systems up wrong. Our components are built with the user in mind. Systems can be connected and disconnected on the
fly. Have a view of the "Configurations page for the various ways of utilizing our components with different
setups.
